Meet Eric Dronen
Eric is also co-founder with his wife, Christina Dronen.
What do you do at Finally Family Homes?
I am the founder, Chairman of the Board, and. As founder, I helped put together the organization, although that was mostly Christina.
Being Chairman of the Board means I coordinate the working parts of our organization with the advisory & oversight, which is the board of directors. I facilitate all communication between the board members and run board meetings.
I'm also in charge of fund raising efforts and managing the technology for Finally Family Homes.
What do you do for work?
Computer stuff (Database Development)
I started down this path in high school. Part of reasoning was the salary and some of it was being a good fit with my personality (introverted) and part of it was getting a personal tour at Cray Research.
What do you do for fun?
Lift weights or exercise and spend time with family. Get out into nature.
What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Anything with chocolate and/or caramel chunks.
What skill would you like to master?
Just one? ... Any calisthenics movements; I can't do any and they all look fun.
Where's your favorite place to go in the Los Angeles area?
Anywhere out in the mountains.
How did you find out about foster kids aging out and the struggles they face?
From our church, Pacific Crossroads.
At 18, I lived with my parents. I was working at Taco Bell, National Karate and "Dronen's Heating and A/C". I just started going to a community college.
Who was your biggest supporter at that time?
My parents, each in their own way.
What were your plans for when you "grew up"?
When I was 18, I did not start even thinking about long-term things. My only plans were to finish college. I knew if I didn't finish college I would probably end up working in residential heating and air conditioning as I had done for a few years before.
What makes you excited about / want to be involved with Finally Family Homes?
It is a God-sized vision. God has to step in for things to continue. We can do our best and aim for the stars, but God is the one who will make it have an impact.
What's your favorite Bible verse?
Honestly, I don't have a 'favorite', so will just mention one which comes to mind often:
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8
The mission of Finally Family Homes is to provide family-like support to help teens who don't have a family or home, transition into successful adulthood.
